How I learned German in 6 months: a personal experience
If you hear this for the first time, it sounds unreachable and impossible. A language is a galaxy with no visible end and can never be learned completely, but from personal experience I can say I managed to learn all 6 levels of the language and much more. Here's how…
I PLANNED MY DAY AND MY STUDY HOURS
To learn a new language within 6 months, it's very important to have a structured plan. I started with at least 3 hours of study a day, with three 10-minute breaks. If you find it hard to concentrate for long hours, you can study for 1 hour, rest as long as you need, then get back to it.
I USED SOME APPS
To keep myself active while learning, I used apps such as Duolingo and Babbel, which offer exercises and a way to learn grammar and vocabulary every day. These apps are very helpful for building a strong foundation in the language.
I WATCHED VIDEOS AND FILMS
When you turn learning into fun, everything is easier. I love watching films, so I watched every film in German. Just open Netflix, choose a film in the genre you like, and either watch it with German subtitles or listen to the German dub.
I SPOKE GERMAN WITH MY SISTER
My sister knows German, so I started speaking it with her. Even though our levels were different, I tried to find an answer for every situation.
If you don't have a family member to practise with, ask an AI tool (ChatGPT) for some everyday topics, think about them, then speak about them out loud.
I STARTED A SUPER-INTENSIVE COURSE
Super-intensive courses have an ideal system for learning a language within 6 MONTHS.
I finished one level in 1 month, with lessons 5 times a week, 3 hours each.
The course helped me a lot to learn the grammar rules and to practise communicating with my classmates and the teacher.
I WAS PATIENT AND CONSISTENT
It may seem out of reach, but I did it. Even though I still have a lot to learn, with these methods, patience and work I managed to complete all the levels and gain a very good command of German.
Don't give up. Learning a language has never been easier, thanks to the opportunities we have today.
